Chanel human resources team
All Chanel companies worldwide (“CHANEL” or the “Chanel group”) recognise the importance of data protection for all users (“you” or “user“) who visit websites hosted or operated by CHANEL.
Personal data is information about your personal or material circumstances which can identify you or contribute to your identifiability (e.g. your name, date of birth, email address, phone number or address). CHANEL collects, processes and uses (hereafter: “uses”) the personal information provided by you if required for establishing, executing or terminating contractual obligations or similar should they arise from your application to CHANEL. In such cases we use your personal data to process and assess your application. It is entirely up to you whether you share with us your data for the named purposes.
These policy on data protection in the application process (“Datenschutz im Bewerbungsverfahren”) is directed towards and apply to individuals who access from Germany the German language careers website (“careers website”) operated by CHANEL.
This policy applies only to data collected by CHANEL through the careers website and does not cover other websites, particularly sites specific to other countries or regions that are not in German. In this case the data protection policies and declarations of the relevant country apply.
This careers website and the personal data collected through it by CHANEL is stored directly on servers in France.
When processing your application it can be necessary for CHANEL to pass on your personal data to other affiliated companies within the Chanel group worldwide or to external service providers for the purposes of the application process and to assess your application.
Furthermore, CHANEL will forward your data to other companies in the Chanel group to determine whether your profile fits other vacancies within the Chanel group.
CHANEL would like to point out that the technical safety measures and data protection regulations of parties in certain non-EU countries can fall short of safety measures and data protection regulations within the EU and so the security or confidentiality of your data can not be guaranteed as effectively as for data handling within the EU. When passing on data to Chanel companies in non-EU countries it might not be possible to ensure an adequate level of data protection within the meaning of § 4b article 2 BDSG. Thus, before transferring data to such countries Chanel will ask you for your consent and no personal data will be transferred without having obtained your prior consent.

We may also collect summarised data using “cookies” or “web beacons”, as explained below. “Cookies” and “web beacons” ensure optimal usage of the website.
Cookies: cookies are data that every website can send to its browser to be stored in the computer system. Cookies are sent back to the website that provided them if the visitor returns to the website. They provide information about whether the user is a first-time visitor to the website or whether they have visited it before and which areas of the website are of most interest to them. By storing cookies, CHANEL can improve its website and online activities, and you will enable us to store your preferences for your next visit. Our cookies can also measure the general activity on websites, which allows us to see which areas and parts are the most popular.
Most browsers are configured to accept cookies but you can configure your browser to reject or display all cookies that are sent. You can also delete cookies at any time. Information about how cookies function can be found in the user guide for your browser. You can find the relevant explanation for Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer and Google Chrome browsers via the link: http://www.meine-cookies.org/cookies_verwalten/index.html.
Web beacons: web beacons, also called “Clear Gifs”, “One-Pixel Gifs”, “Web Bugs”, “Internet Tags” or “Pixel Tags”, are small images in a website or email which allow us to monitor, through third parties on our behalf, activity on websites or to increase the effectiveness of cookies. Web beacons allow us to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of our marketing by providing us data about whether you follow links in our emails or websites and to gather information about which websites you visit after visiting our website. We use log files to store the data collected with web beacons. No analysis of you as an individual is undertaken.
CHANEL does not – subject to the regulations in this section 3 – disclose your personal data to third parties without your consent.
However, we reserve the right to disclose your personal data if and in so far as CHANEL is legally obliged to do so.
We might engage third parties as service providers to carry out particular functions on our behalf and/or for the purposes of the application process, which might require disclosing personal data provided by you. This could occur, for example, in the case of outsourcing of HR departments and/or the use of external HR advisers. These transfers of data are in accordance with the applicable data protection laws (e.g. through the agreement of contracts for processing customer data), subject to confidentiality and data protection regulations and only serve the purpose of facilitating these functions or services.
Please do not send us any material, in particular suggestions, concepts, know-how, ideas and similar suggestions regarding business, marketing, advertising or design (“unsolicited sent material”). We cannot accept any liability for compliance with this policy for any unsolicited sent material we receive, including all unsolicited personal data (e.g. personal data which has not been requested in connection with the application process or that is necessary or used for its purpose).
The protection of your personal data has the highest priority for us. We have taken the necessary technical and other measures to protect the data we collect, process and use against unauthorised access, loss and/or unauthorised alteration.
This careers website is not aimed at children and/or young people and it is not our intention to collect or store personal data of children and/or young people under 18. If you have reason to believe that we have data of or about individuals under 18, please contact us as described in section 8.
We reserve the right to change or update this policy at any time at our discretion in accordance with the applicable data protection rules if and in so far as is necessary on account of, for example, adjustment of company policies of the Chanel group.
We will share with you any significant changes to our policy by publishing the revised policy on the careers website, stating the date of revision, and we will specifically advise on any such change on our website. If you continue to use the careers website we will assume that you agree to the policy in the current valid form. If you wish to revoke consent to the use of your data in accordance with the revised policy you have two weeks from the publication of the policy revision.
We recommend that you regularly check this policy so that you remain informed about how we protect the personal data we collect.
If you want to revoke your consent to the collecting and use of your personal data, please send an email to suppression@chanel-carrières.fr. You can withdraw your consent at any time and you have a right to free information about your saved data, as well as the right to delete, update or correct this data. Please contact CHANEL customer services, Brandstücken 23, 22549 Hamburg.
